İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) has an official taxi rank on the arrivals floor of both terminals. Licensed taxis run on a taximeter under the tariff set by the İzmir metropolitan council — a single rate around the clock, with no night tariff and no airport supplement. This guide covers where the rank is, what the tariff is, the typical trips and the public transport alternative.

How airport taxis work at İzmir Adnan Menderes

ADB has two terminals, domestic and international, and each has its own official taxi rank on the arrivals floor just outside the exit. You take the next taxi in line and the meter starts when the trip begins. Taxis are licensed by İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi and carry a visible licence number and the tariff card inside the vehicle.

The fare is a flagfall of ₺40.00 plus ₺54.00 per kilometre. If the trip stays under 3.15 km, a short-distance fare of ₺210.00 applies instead. Waiting in traffic is charged at ₺240.00 per hour. Unlike most Turkish cities, İzmir has no night tariff — the same rate applies at every hour, on weekends and on public holidays — and no airport supplement is added.

Trips that cross the İzmir provincial boundary carry 50% on top of the tariff. Çeşme, Alaçatı, Selçuk, Bergama and Dikili are inside İzmir and run on the normal rate; Kuşadası, Didim, Bodrum and Pamukkale are outside it. izmigo applies the same tariff before you send a request, shows the distance and an approximate fare, and nearby licensed drivers decide whether to accept. You pay the driver in the vehicle; there is no commission or surge.

Where the taxi rank is

The official taxi rank is on the arrivals floor of both the domestic and the international terminal, immediately outside the exit. The two terminals have separate exits, so tell your driver or the person meeting you which one you will come out of. Fares run on the meter; the airport taxi line is 0232 274 20 75.

Public transport alternative

The İZBAN commuter railway has its own station connected to the terminal; Alsancak is about half an hour away. ESHOT bus lines 200, 202, 204 and 206 plus Havaş coaches leave from the arrivals floor.

Practical tips
  • • From domestic arrivals, the lift and escalators directly opposite the exit lead down to İZBAN; from international arrivals, follow the "Metro-İzban" signs along the moving walkway. The gates take no cash, so buy an İzmirim Kart or a Bilet35 first.
  • • Public transport thins out for night landings: ESHOT line 202 leaves the airport at 01.00, 03.00 and 05.00, i.e. every two hours. For a late arrival a taxi or a pre-arranged car is the practical option.
  • • There is no rail link to Çeşme, Alaçatı or Kuşadası. İZBAN’s southern end reaches Tepeköy and Selçuk (for Ephesus and Şirince); peninsula transfers are by road.

Estimates are calculated from the published 2026 tariff (flagfall + distance × per-kilometre rate, with the 50% supplement where the route leaves the province). The meter is the final reference; the app shows the live figure for your route.

Things worth knowing before you ride

Use the official rank

Only board at the signposted taxi rank outside arrivals. People offering a taxi or a private transfer inside the terminal are not licensed drivers.

Luggage is free

No separate baggage charge may be applied. Standard luggage in the boot is included in the meter fare.

Ask for the receipt

Licensed taxis issue a receipt showing the licence plate, the distance and the fare. Keep it if you need to claim expenses or raise a complaint with the municipality.

Card payment

Many İzmir taxis accept cards, but not all. Confirm with the driver before departure and carry some cash as a fallback.

Leaving the province costs more

For destinations outside İzmir province — Kuşadası, Didim, Bodrum, Pamukkale — 50% is added to the tariff. Agree that this applies before you set off.
